In case you haven’t noticed we have a LOVELY new image at the top of our website now.
Watching one of my gorgeous friends tossing leaves in the air during a crisp autumn day in a enchanted Siberian forest is probabaly MUCH MORE appealing then looking at the old lonely tunnel banner that came with the original wordpress theme. I took this photo more then 3 years ago and it was a complete stroke of luck that I caught my friend Inessa in this absolutely timeless and beautiful moment.
If my experiences in Russia could be summed up with one photo then this would be it.
Damn does this blog look good now or what? <g>

I agree, incredibly beautiful, How many women her age do you see these days that take the time to play with the leaves?
I was seriously struck when I saw that banner. I looked at it and saw that little glint in her eye.
I think it says alot. (even though I say countless times not to judge books by it’s cover, I’ll make an exception)

Hi Mikaleon,
That’s a completely real moment by the way when I captured this image.
It was done in a Siberian Forest that the locals like to frequent.
I’m sure she would be totally surprised in knowing how many people have seen that image of her now.
I’ve been contemplating putting a slightly higher resolution version of this banner up and now that I know how much you like it I will go ahead and do that soon..
Thanks again..

OK.. I went ahead and upgraded the Header image.. It went from 23k to 53k in size. You should notice a slightly higher level of resolution. And a better view of the twinkle in Inessa’s eyes.
Hope this does the trick..

I have a really important question. Are there other women who like to play with leaves in that forest, or only Inessa? Because I sure like to play with leaves. One reason why American women don’t like to play with leaves is because they are too busy spitting feminist drool with their feminist friends, sitting on the couch all day, and watching pointless soap operas and sitcoms.

Luke,
Russian women are quite resourceful when it comes to finding ways to entertain themselves and their loved ones in what we would traditionally view as simple ways.
Throwing leaves around is just a hint..
I was at a Birthday party today for a friend and the lady of the hour was busy entertaining with guitar and song.
When was the last time you saw an American or Western Woman doing that for friends or family?
Get the picture?

I’ve always been impressed with your banner photo. The ‘wonder’ in this woman’s face is an absolute treasure to see. Simply enjoying herself in nature. Fantastic! I’ve seen this look before in my former Eastern Europe lady’s eyes. It was just a fleeting moment, repeated at cerain times, difficult to photograph, but something most incredible. I look for it again in another Russian woman’s eyes, reflecting the wonder of her spirit!

Thanks Ceiver,
I see that look all the time here especially with the younger girls who are out and about..
