A very thoughtful reader has introduced me to a great video clip from a romantic European film called Les Poupées russes (The Russian Dolls) .
Now if you’ve never been to Russia or the FSU..
And you’ve never had the chance to actually MEET a traditional Russian beauty face to face..
Then watching this clip may be the closest experience you’ll have to understanding what it’s like.
Because I can certainly remember when it happened to me.
And just like the “poor guy” in this video who has a classic deer in the headlight moment before he gets SMACKED by “Natasha”..
I ain’t never been the same since.
And neither would you.

Les poupées russes is one of my most favorite movies of all time (along with its prequel, L’auberge espagnol). And Natasha is an actual ballerina, I believe she’s now a soloist with the Mariinsky. Her name is Evgenia Obraztsova, and she’s absolutely divine !

The clip is nice, but could you please not say, “if you’ve never been to Russia or the FSU” on a site about Russian women? I’m from the FSU and it’s quite annoying how everyone just assumes that means I’m from Russia and/or that I’m Russian.
I know that what you meant by that sentence is the fact that there are sizable Russian populations in every FSU country, especially in Kazakhstan and Ukraine, but if a foreigner were to read that it would add to that misconception that all the FSU countries (Ukraine, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, etc..) are just “Russia” and their people “Russians.” Besides, FSU women are very diverse, and a Caucasian or Central Asian woman does not have the same way of thinking and culture as a Slavic one, so you can’t approach them the same way as you can a Russian or Ukrainian.
Also, the title of your youtube video says “Nasha”, which in Russian means “our”- not sure if this is a typo, just wanted to let you know.

Hi ABC123 thanks for the heads up.
Check out my FAQ section and read number 6.
6. What about women from other Former Soviet Union (FSU) countries such as the Ukraine, Belarus, or Kazakhstan?
Although it would be more accurate to call this “FSU Women – The Real Truth most” many American men would not know what this means and it would not be practical to label this site this way. Although there are many FSU countries the women from these areas more or less share the same overall characteristics and values that are described in this site.

That makes sense, thank you for the reply. A lot of those other questions in the FAQ apply nearly word-for-word for other FSU countries.
Have you been anywhere else in the FSU other than Russia?

I watched this movie. It is not mainly about the Natasha and the guy she falls in love with. Looking at this movie I see it shows problems and what is wrong in our society. I don’t hate the movie at all but immorality, selflisness, etc are in it. The only women who are not selfcenter or bad is Natasha, and her British husband’s sister Wendy. That is just one example in the movie.

Funny, I have this movie added to my netflix queue. It’s available for streaming. I watch it today.

A man goes to Russia to meet three girls he’s been in contact with. And he finds it difficult to make up his mind because they are all lovely and enchanting in their own little way.
1) The first one is the most intellectual of the three. She converses with ease in English and confesses to you that she only knows a few phrases – hah! what modesty. She is head of her school newspaper and its editor. And obviously, she is well read and wants to know all that goes around in the world and she can discuss with you any topic you could conjure. She is in short very intellectually stimulating. She stands your equal in all matters of intellect. And if there be a subject unknown to her, well, with ease she can learn it.
2) The second is the most beautiful of the three. She has all the curves in all the right places and you just observe and gaze into her lovely blue eyes and sigh – ah how lovely. She is certainly very stimulating but not of the intellectual kind but the below the belt kind. But not a slouch herself in the books department for she is a literature teacher and can carry her own in matters intellectual. At any rate, she epitomizes what you’ve always fancied as being the most beautiful and always had dream’t of of marrying.
3) Lastly, we have the one who is the sentimentalist. One who cares a great deal, one who speaks and always seem to touch you in some ways. No, no, she is not the most intellectual but that is not also to say that she is not smart. Because she is plenty smart. She is not as beautiful as 2), but is cute in her own ways and in no ways unappealing. So she touches you not in a place where 1) nor 2) touches you for she touches you in the heart of all places.
So a man goes forth to find and discover and to choose for himself a woman who will keep him happily married. Which should he choose amongst these three lovelys? Should he follow his passion, his heart, or his mind?
Anyone? GL especially. ))

From personal experience, if all things are as you say, I would respectfully see less of #1 because of the high likelihood that I might not be her intellectual equal down the road which could leave her bored or disappointed.
I would also see less of #2 because she will constantly be sought and wooed for her beauty without being given her deserved credit for the intelligence she possesses. My appreciation for both her looks and her mind could eventually pale to the constant barrage of pretty boys trying to bed her. As I detest such daily challenges to every guy on the street, I would allow her to seek the man she found best and respect her whether that man was me or someone else.
As far as the third girl, I see her as not being put under pressure throughout her life with respect to her intellect, nor has she probably been treated like a princess because of her more understated appearance. Trusting old values that I witnessed growing up, I would spend more time trying to find out if she was the genuine article, always hoping that her normalcy was consistent throughout her personality and her presence.
At face value I would think the third girl might be a good choice . . . . .
Of course if the same options were available in NA, I’d try my damndest to bed the pretty one after making certain that all of my middle aged buddies saw me with her. The reason being that if these were NA women they would ALL be looking to take me to the cleaners so I’d prefer at least getting laid by the hottie before having everything I own taken in some sort of legal action. (okay, this is supposed to be the funny part for any of you ladies that think I’m just a normal, everyday, chauvinist pig)
While intellect may put some men off, I enjoy enlightened conversation with educated women. Beauty is a physical trait which diminishes with age so using that yardstick to gauge the value of a potential mate is pretty shallow and ignorant to me. Well rounded people with a balance of experience and reasonable intelligence are most likely to be a good fit for any open minded realist. Above average looks would be a bonus, not a deal breaker. Its funny how good someone can ‘look’ when you’ve been able to connect with them on a deeper level.

Manoah,
Each one of these ladies has great potential in my mind given what you’ve said.
The bottom line is this..
Choice paralysis? Believe me I’ve been there and it breaks my heart because I know the real feelings that the ladies that I’ve dated have had for me.
You can only choose one. And unfortunately the margin for error or difference between these girls is so small. It’s like 2 equally accomplished football teams facing off and one team wins or loses based on some slight facet of chance.
I would meditate or pray on it frankly. Then I’d make my decision and do everything possible to help the remaining 2 ladies to find their soul mates and to live full and happy lives. I hate the idea of breaking hearts over something like this.. So I’d do everything I could to be a positive catalyst for them.
Good luck with this Manoah.
